Twilight market returns in Matthews

The Matthews Community Farmer’s Market kicked off its annual Tuesday twilight market this week, adding a smaller version of its grower-only Saturday market. Look for it 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays through Aug. 5 at North Trade and John streets in Matthews. Kathleen Purvis

Give us bread, man

The celebrate its 25th anniversary, the La Brea Bread Tour will hand out samples of bread at several locations around Charlotte: 8:30 a.m. Thursday at North Tryon and Fifth streets; 11:15 a.m. Friday at North Davidson and East 35th; 11:15 a.m. Sunday at Central and Pecan avenues in Chantilly; and 8:30 a.m. June 20 at South College and East Third streets. Raise a cup for the Brits

Tea customs of the British Isles are the theme of a series of afternoon teas at the Charlotte Museum of History, 3500 Shamrock Drive. Teas are 4-5 p.m. and tickets are $20; $15 for members.
