Time for friendship and a garden party

Tickets are $50 for the annual garden party by Slow Food Charlotte, Friendship Gardens and Friendship Trays, from 7 to 10 p.m. Sept. 27 at Friendship Trays, 2401 Distribution St. It includes local chefs and food, beer, wine and art. Friendship Gardens is a community garden network, and Friendship Trays provides meals to shut-ins. Details and tickets: www.friendship-gardens.org.

Screening of ‘Resistance’

Food & Water Watch and Slow Food Charlotte are sponsoring a free screening of “Resistance,” about antibiotic use, plus a panel discussion. It starts at 6:30 p.m. Monday at UNC Charlotte City Center, 320 E. Ninth St. Details: slowfoodcharlotte.org.

New list of cooking classes

Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen, the hands-on cooking classes at Atherton Market, 2104 South Blvd. (at Tremont Avenue), has a new list of classes through Oct. 28. Classes range from $55 to $65. Details: www.chefalyssaskitchen.com.
