I'll Bite

Could you use a half-price martini today?

Tavolo has adopted its predecessor’s half-price cocktail tradition.
Tavolo has adopted its predecessor’s half-price cocktail tradition. Tavolo

It’s hard to stamp out a habit, apparently. When the uptown Italian restaurant Tavolo was being built at 300 N. College St., former customers of Cosmos kept stopping by, asking if the half-price Wednesday martini tradition was going to continue.

When Tavolo opened, the question kept coming up. So Tavolo is bowing to popular demand: Yes, Wednesday is now half-price cocktail day.

Since North Carolina doesn’t allow happy hour specials, they’ll do it all day on Wednesdays, with a list of $10 cocktails for $5 each, and regular and specialty martinis, usually $12, for $6 each.

Given Wednesday’s weather, that means you can get out of your wet clothes and into a dry martini.
