If your life takes you anywhere around Charlotte’s Elizabeth neighborhood, you’re probably already been cursing at the detours. Road construction has the busy street blocked Louise and Lamar avenues until June 19.
What to do if you’re trying to get to the restaurant Fig Tree, at 7th Street and Louise Avenue? Make your way around the “Road Closed” signs (you’re local traffic, so it’s OK). There’s a complimentary valet service waiting for you. You can reach the front from East 7th, or by turning on to East 8th Street off Hawthorne and then making a left on Louise.
The valet service will stay in place until June 19, when the road is expected to reopen. Of course, Elizabeth’s troubles won’t end there. Teh street closure is part of a series of closings that will end with the long-term closing of Hawthorne Lane as the bridge over Independence Boulevard is replaced. But that’s a problem for another restaurant.
