The 7th Street Public Market, 224 E. 7th St., has a new executive director. Chris Clouden replaces Mike Restaino, who has gone to work for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina as director of community relations in Charlotte.
Clouden was most recently with Charlotte Sports Foundation, where he managed events including the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship and the Belk Bowl. But from 2000 to 2006, he was chief of Manhattan Recreation for the New York parks and recreation department.
He’s joining 7th Street at a good time. After opening in 2012, the market has grown up and now has 16 vendors, making it full. It has several thriving restaurants, including Pure Pizza and Local Loaf, and a variety of small, local businesses.
