They’ll start pouring the wines a year early for the Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend. Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend

The Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend is so big, it takes two years to hold it.

The next festival isn’t until April 26-May 1, 2016, but this year, they’re going to kick it off by holding the biggest event, Big Bottles & Blues, on May 9 in Founders Hall uptown.

Expect 100 wines for sampling, a live and silent auction, music (blues, of course) and several ticket levels. Some of the wineries represented: Krupp Brothers, Darioush, Silver Oak, Emmolo and DoubleBack.

There are several ticket levels, geared to different groups:

▪ Icons of Italy Dinner, $250, is a VIP package including a multicourse dinner at Aria Tuscan Grill before the event.

▪ Wine Lover’s, $125, standard admission to Big Bottles & Blues.

▪ Young Aficionados, $75, is geared at wine lovers who are younger than 35 and includes tutorials to guide them through figuring out what they like.
