An Aug. 20 dinner at Luca Modern Italian Kitchen in Elizabeth that was supposed to highlight the cooking of assistant sous chef Selasie “Sam” Dotse has been cancelled. The dinner was featured in an events listings in The Observer last week.
Dotse, whose parents are from Africa, was going to cook six courses featuring the food of Ghana and Ethiopia. Dotse is part of a group of chefs who have drawn attention for Soul Food Sessions, a series of dinners cooked by African-American chefs and mixologists from around Charlotte. Dotse is expected to be one of the chefs at the next Soul Food Sessions dinner, planned for late September.
