Saturday (yes, that would be April 11): Fishing Creek Creamery’s Spring Fest is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Chester, S.C. A quick trip down I-77 gets you to the farm, where you can pay $3 each to see baby goats, watch cheesemaking demonstrations, get goat milk gelato, hear bluegrass music and do other crafty things. I wrote about Fishing Creek last fall, and you can find their goats’ milk cheeses in several places, including Orrman’s. 3694 Fishing Creek Church Road, 704-750-5647 or get details on Facebook.
Go to a farmer’s market: They’re opening for the season or returning to summer hours. The Village at Robinson Farm opens April 15 at 8410 Rea Road. Hours: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Matthews Community Market, North Trade Street, is on winter hours (8-10 a.m. Saturdays) until April 18. The Davidson Farmers Market is on summer hours now, 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays, 120 S. Main St.
The Salvation Army’s 27th annual Festival of Tables is 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at the Sheraton, 555 S. McDowell St. Tickets are $40 and includes a silent auction, lunch and the juried table design competition. It raises money for Center of Hope and the Boys and Girls Club. Details and tickets.
