With that million-dollar skyline view and easy-to-reach location, Romare Bearden Park , 300 S. Church St., has become Charlotte’s very own backyard. Tonight, the yard will be all lit up and musical for a free Uptown Pops concert featuring movie and TV theme songs by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, followed by a screening of the movie “The Goonies.” (You won’t be alone in the dark. You like the dark. You love the dark.)
What’s the eat? How about food trucks: To benefit EAT (RED), a Bank of America initiative to raise money to fight AIDS, you’ll be able to get dinner. (If you use your BofA debit or credit, the Big Bank will donate 40 cents of each purchase to Eat (Red Drink (Red) Save Lives, a fundraiser for The Global Fund.)
Trucks expected at the park from 5-9 p.m. : King of Pops, The Plated Palette, The Cool Zone, Cloud 9 2Go, Comfort Food on Wheels, Maki Taco, Street Spice, Cheese to the Mac and Mae’s Creole Kitchen.
