A product recall announced by the Kraft Heinz Company in July has gotten wider. The company is now voluntarily recalling a wider number of its packages of Kraft Singles American cheese for a packaging defect.

The defect in the wrappers on the individual cheese slices can leave a piece of hard-to-see clear plastic on the cheese slices, which could cause choking.

When it was originally announced July 31, the packages only included the 3- and 4-pound sizes. The wider recall now involves 1-pound packages of Kraft Singles and Kraft Singles White American.

All the packages in the recall have the codes S54 and S55 following the “Best When Used By” dates of 29 DEC 15 through 04 JAN 16. An estimated 335,000 cases of the recalled product were distributed in the United States, as well as throughout the Caribbean (Puerto Rico, Anguilla, Bahamas, Belize, Bermuda, Cayman Islands Grand Cayman, Netherland Antilles, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia and the British Virgin Islands), as well as South Korea.

If you have one of the packages, return it to the store where you bought it for a replacement or refund, or call Kraft, 1-800-432-3101.
