Which farmers markets are washouts?

Let’s hope the buckets are only full of lettuce at the farmers’ markets on Saturday.

With a wet and muddy weekend coming, let’s check around for farmers market plans Saturday morning:

▪ The Davidson Farmers Market will be closed, because the tents aren’t great for wind and rain. But some vendors will be at the Eden Street Market, which is indoors. Coldwater Creek Farm, KC Farm, Gilcrest Natural Farm and Herr Flower Farm are expected to be there.

▪ The Matthews Community Farmers Market will be open, according to Pauline Wood. But since the Cotton Gin Alley field will be very wet, they don’t want you to park there. Try for a spot on North Trade or Charles streets, or use the public parking lot by the railroad tracks.

▪ The Charlotte Regional Farmers Market will be open, but some vendors have already canceled for the day. If you want to check and see if a vendor you need will be there, they ask that you call, 704-357-1269.

▪ The NoDa Farmers Market, which is usually outside, will be inside the Neighborhood Theater, right next door, 511 E. 36th St. Two vendors have canceled, but others are going to wait and see how heavy the rain is. They still expect 12 to 15 vendors.

If any farmers and food sellers would like to let us know their plans, you can add a comment on this story and I’ll try to pass on the word.
