Are you going to Saturday’s Heart of the Home Kitchen Tour, a fundraiser for Symphony Guild of Charlotte? Say hello and get a bite to eat: I’ll be at 2152 Sherwood Ave. from 10:30 a.m. to noon, signing copies and offering samples from “Bourbon” and “Pecans,” my two books in the Savor the South cookbook series from UNC Press. Jay Pierce, the former chef at Rocksalt and the author of “Shrimp” in the series, will be over at 2301 Radcliffe at the same time.
The kitchen features eight houses, and a dozen chefs, including Blake Hartwick of Bonterra, will be cooking at different times through the day. You’ll get a list of the times and addresses when you get your guide to the tour.
Advance tickets are $25, and you get them at www.symphonyguildcharlotte.org/kitchen-tour. Tickets on the day of the tour are $30.
