Step out of the pantry and into the voting booth Tuesday, when the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Food Policy Council hosts an early-morning candidates’ forum.
Come by the 7th Street Public Market, 224 E. 7th St., where local candidates for the school board and the city council will be on hand to answer questions about healthy food in schools, sustainable agriculture and support for local farms and food entrepreneurs. Candidates expected to be on hand include Elyse Dashew, Larry Bumgarner, Ericka Ellis-Steward, Levester Flowers, Jeremy Stephenson, Julie Eiselt, John K. Powell Jr., LaWana Mayfield, Eric Netter and Pablo Carvajal.
Remember that the first 90 minutes of parking is free in the Seventh Street Station garage if you bring your parking ticket into the market and stamp it. (And remember that Not Just Coffee makes a mean cup of pour-over, but it takes a few minutes, so get there early.)
