Check your cashews, Trader Joe’s shoppers

Some packages of raw cashew pieces sold at Trader Joe’s may be contaminated with salmonella, according to an alert issued over the weekend.

The packages all have the barcode number 00505154. They were distributed to Trader Joe’s stores in North and South Carolina, as well as Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hamshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington state, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin. The products have been removed from store shelves. No illnesses have been reported.

The packages also have “BEST BEFORE 07.17.2016TFA.” If you have one of the packages, return it to the store for a refund or call Trader Joe’s at 626-599-3817.
