Bolthouse Farms, the California-based maker of juices, smoothies and protein drinks, issued a voluntary recall of some of its drinks this week.
The drinks may be spoiled. The affected products may appear lumpy, have an unpleasant taste and have an off-order. Some illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.
The drinks include Protein PLUS shakes with “best-by” dates between 6/20/16 to 9/18/16. The flavors involved include chocolate, vanilla bean, coffee, coconut, strawberry and banana honey almond butter. It also includes Perfectly Protein Mocha Cappuccino flavors.
The recall affects 3.8 million bottles that were distributed all over the country. If you think you have one of the bottles, return it to the store for a refund or call 866-535-3774. More details are also available on Bolthouse Farms’ Facebook page or on the Food & Drug Administration’s food-safety page.
