Need isn’t seasonal, but giving sometimes is: Just because it isn’t cold (or Christmasy) doesn’t mean nonprofits don’t need help. In fact, with kids out of school and away from free breakfasts and lunches at school, many families need even more help in the summer.
For the second year, SHARE Charlotte is targeting a two-week campaign to make it easy to find a charity and do some good. SummerSHARE sets up an online Give Shop with 77 charities. All you have to do is go online (summershare.org), pick a need and fill it. If it involves supplies, SHARE Charlotte will take care of getting it to the right place.
Last year’s campaign got more than 1,000 items for 49 nonprofit groups. This year, the goal is 3,000 items for 77 nonprofits.
“Every day of last summer’s SummerSHARE campaign was like Christmas,” says Sue Bruce, communications for Loaves & Fishes.
