It must be almost fall: Beer festival season has begun with the news of a new beer event coming to BB&T Ballpark in November.
Beer Quest, 1-5 p.m. Nov. 19 will be put on by the people All About Beer magazine, the presenter of the World Beer Festivals and the N.C. Brewers Celebration. This one is a little different: All the beers will be sorted into paths or tracks of styles of beer. You can stick to one track, or cross around between the tracks. The idea is to let you explore deeply in one area, or get a quick taste of a variety.
“Our focus through both All About Beer Magazine and our beer festivals has always been on education,” said Chris Rice, publisher of All About Beer. “Beer Quest will offer a fun, unique way to learn more about a wide variety of beers.”
The paths: Hoppy and Curious, Fizzy Yellow Greatness, The Dark Path and Not 4 n00bs, with barrel-aged, smoked, sour and pepper beers.
This isn’t All About Beer’s first visit to the ballpark. They also presented the N.C. Brewers Celebration there in 2015.
Tickets will be limited to keep crowds in control. You can get a couple of levels of ticket: $50 gets a tasting glass with unlimited 4-ounce pours and access to the Art of Beer Experience with seminars and ingredient sampling. $90 gets you VIP admission, with all of those things, plus a bonus selection of rare beers, food vouchers for the concession stands, a VIP lounge, and three issues of the magazine.
