Tax firm offers 12 hours of free advice on health care law

All H&R Block offices will offer free advice about how the Affordable Care Act affects this year’s tax returns from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday.

People who bought subsidized insurance on the federal marketplace could owe money or get a refund if their 2014 income doesn’t match their projection. And people without health insurance could pay a new penalty.

The national tax-preparation company is offering personalized reviews and answering questions on Thursday; no appointments are required. Tax forms for people who got subsidies are expected to arrive by the end of January. Ann Doss Helms
