Carolinas HealthCare System announced this week that it has appealed to the S.C. Court of Appeals, asking for reversal of a recent South Carolina administrative law court decision favoring Piedmont Medical Center of Rock Hill to build a hospital in Fort Mill.
In December, S.C. Administrative Law Court Judge Phillip Lenski ruled Piedmont Medical should be granted a “certificate of need” to build the new hospital. It was the latest twist in a 10-year battle between Piedmont Medical and Carolinas HealthCare System over which group should be allowed to build a 100-bed hospital in the growing town.
In a statement, Carolinas HealthCare said it “maintains its commitment to providing the highest quality of care and comprehensive services for thousands of residents in York County.”
