Our family has taken advantage of food delivery, grocery delivery, and, I’m embarrassed to say, have even had Amazon Prime same-day deliver a few items because no one wants to put on clothes and go to the store. So Katherine Peralta’s recent article sparked some immediate attention in our delivery-loving household because it highlighted two companies that will deliver beer and wine in the Charlotte area.
Grocery delivery service Shipt will start offering beer and wine delivery service this week in coordination with Harris Teeter. A Shipt membership is required and will run you $99 per year, but includes unlimited grocery and alcohol deliveries. Their mobile and desktop app allows customers to choose a one-hour delivery window.
Instacart will also deliver beer and wine to your home through a partnership with Total Wine & More. The delivery fee depends on the size and time of your order but is visible before you check out. Grocery delivery is also available from Whole Foods, Costco, Harris Teeter, BJ’s, Publix, and Food Lion, as well as pet supplies from Pet Co Now.
Both services require someone over the age of 21 to show an ID and sign for delivery, so no worries about Junior ordering up a case of beer for his friends. And just remember, we’re talking food, wine and beer - none of the hard stuff....we’re still a long way off from having the ABC Store deliver.
