In theory, our family has a “one in, one out” policy...one new toy in the house means one old toy should be donated for someone else to enjoy, one new shirt hanging in the closet should result in one old shirt being given away. I say “in theory” because somehow the toy shelf is overflowing and the closets are jammed full of clothes that don’t get worn. So 2ULaundry’s Winter Warmup initiative comes just at the right time.
They have partnered with Crisis Assistance Ministry this December for the first annual Winter Warmup Charity Event, and this holiday season, 2ULaundry’s goal is to raise 10,000 pounds of clothing and winter essentials to donate to the Crisis Assistance Ministry. The Winter Warmup will take place from December 5th to December 19th. During those two weeks, 2ULaundry will pick up donations from right outside individual’s homes as well as specific locations across Charlotte.
"Donating is easy and those wishing to participate can easily schedule a pickup, regardless of whether they are 2ULaundry customers or not. Donors can schedule a pickup online or by sending a text to (704) 766-8730 with the word “donation”. New items most needed include hats, socks, underwear, gloves, and school uniforms. Gently used items like shoes, work boots, bed linens, towels, and winter coats may be donated as well.
Donors should place new and gently used items in plastic bags on their doorstep. 2ULaundry will send donors a reminder text the night before picking the items up and taking them to the Crisis Assistance Ministry. The campaign is on track to be a huge success - the two organizations formed a similar partnership this past spring for the Spring Clean CLT campaign, successfully gathering over 5,000 pounds of clothing for Charlotte families and individuals in need.
