Imagine sharing a monthly meal with other women focused on good food, conversation and life. When Miranda Dauphinee, 36 of Pinehurst and Shaunna Rushing 32 of SouthPark began Nourish this year, that’s exactly what they had in mind. They currently have approximately 100 members that meet all over the Charlotte area and will be branching out to Pinehurst and Southern Pines this coming year.

Q. How did you get the idea for Nourish?

A. Great question! Shaunna and I both felt like it was hard to find community where we could be real and talk about the hard stuff. Most people have *A* girlfriend they can be themselves with, but groups of women can be intimidating, scary and sometimes fake. We wanted to reach other women who desired the same type of authentic, real, gritty friendships and pull them all together.

Q. What exactly do you do?

A. Once a month, we meet in various homes around the city of Charlotte and have dinner together. Yummy food, drinks, awesome conversation.

Q. Who are the dinners for?

A. If you're a woman, you're invited!

Q. In what ways have you helped Charlotte families?

A. Women, moms - we really are the heart of our families and it's so easy to put ourselves on the back burner. I've found myself feeling so alone and overwhelmed at times because I'm working so hard at making everyone happy and inside I'm dying to not only have time with friends, but to have good QUALITY time and conversations where I can talk to someone about what I'm really going through.

Nourish strives to create an environment where diverse groups of women sit together and learn from each other and aren't scared to open up about the hard stuff we each go through. Being able to do this only helps women feel not so alone, and that definitely benefits families!

Q. Where are the parties held and how often?

A. We meet once a month, we have groups all over Charlotte.

Q. What are the topics you discuss at the dinners?

A. We try not to structure our dinner conversations much, if at all. We love how natural conversation flows, but each month we do put out one discussion question to be used if needed to get the ball rolling. The question usually has to deal with being authentic, real, female friendships, how to be brave, etc.

Q. How can our readers participate?

A. Visit us on our website at http://www.nourishclt.com or email us at nourishclt@gmail.com.

Q. Is there a fee?

A. Not for Nourish, no!

Q. How do you join or participate?

A. By emailing us, telling us a little bit about yourself and your geographical location - we’ll take it from there.

Q. Tell us a little about your upcoming conference.

A. We are SO excited to announce the She's Brave 2016 conference, that will be held in uptown Charlotte. It's a weekend long event (March 4-6, 2016) - a conference for women of all walks of life to hear from amazing women and speakers, have yummy food and shop in the Fashion & Compassion marketplace.

Q. Who all will be there?

A. Our keynote speaker will be New York Times Best selling author of Carry On, Warrior, Glennon Doyle Melton, author/blogger Sarah Mae and life coach Lisa J. Allen. There will also be local women speakers for break out sessions and we cannot wait!

Q. How much are tickets and what does it include?

A. Right now, tickets are on sale for the Early Bird price of $250. This includes:

  • A swag bag full of goodies, including but not limited to Glennon Doyle Melton's best selling book, Carry On, Warrior
  • A beautiful piece of jewelry from Fashion + Compassion.
