The rain. We’ve sighed, we’ve muttered, we’ve posted angst-ridden memes on Facebook. The rain is starting to make Charlotteans a little itchy. It appears to be here to stay, at least through the weekend. Fear not parents! EpicFest is happening and because of this you shouldn’t be concerned about the rain…the seemingly endless rain.

EpicFest, the free literary festival that aims to connect children and families to the library, begins today and continues on Saturday.

On Friday, award winning children and young adult authors will visit select Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools. There is also a free workshop for parents at Beatties Ford Road Library featuring Byron Garrett, author and chair of the National Family Engagement Alliance.

Saturday brings the literary festival to ImaginOn. Ten authors will give presentations and have book signings. The schedule for the authors and their presentation can be found here: http://foundation.cmlibrary.org/content/epicfest-author-schedule#overlay-context=epicfest

All children who attend will receive a free book and the author’s books will be for sale throughout the event. The event will also include Lego building and robotics stations as well as an early learning station for toddlers and a coffee shop for teens. Local teenagers will use various forms of social media to provide updates as they happen.

Escape the rain and get your read on at EpicFest.
