Laughing at ourselves

Because there is nothing more powerful than love.
Because there is nothing more powerful than love.

So…John and I forgot our wedding anniversary. Again.

Well, we didn’t forget it exactly; we just got the date wrong. Both of us. For the 6th or 7th year in a row.

Last night, my aunt sent me a ‘Happy Anniversary’ text, to which I replied “Thanks, but you’re a day early!” Her response: “Really? I thought it was today…”

I started thinking about it, of how many times we’ve mixed it up before, and it got me wondering, what if she’s right?

I asked John to go check the date on cross stitch sampler my mom gave us as a wedding gift decades ago…

As it turned out, my aunt was correct. Again.

We had a good laugh and decided we were fortunate Mom gave us that special gift~otherwise we might never get it right!

I would have been seriously ticked had this happened fifteen years ago or even ten; in those days, I remembered everything and would have been waiting for John to miss it, thereby relegating him to the dog house. Thanks to maturity, the passage of time and life experiences, I now find the situation to be quite humorous...

Celebrating the day of the event isn’t nearly as important as honoring what came out of it…

In a world that I can only describe as chaotic and unpredictable, I am so thankful I don’t have to face it alone… We’ve seen good times and experienced unspeakably bad ones, but we’ve done it together, and that has made all the difference.

The holiday season is beautiful but difficult for so many. Within our own family, we have some who are soaring high and others whom are suffering greatly…

Life is incredibly fragile… To think I wasted a moment of it over something so silly…

Here’s to embracing the anniversary lesson-let go of the minutiae and love one another…

Because there is nothing more powerful than love...
