Babes in the Woods 10:30 - 11:30 am at McDowell Nature Preserve Tuck your little one in a stroller and join one of our educators for an easy walk along our paved nature trail. Relax, chat, and experience what nature has to offer this month in a casual, social setting. In case of inclement weather, meet inside the Nature Center for indoor playtime. Registration required.

Can You Find the Gold? at Discovery Place KIDS Huntersville at Town Center 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. January 1848 is when gold was first discovered in California. Come to learn about the color, luster, and hardness of different rocks and minerals. See some real gold too!

Civil War Winter Quarters Living History at Latta Plantation 10am - 4pm The American Civil War was no easy time for soldiers or civilians, especially during the long cold winter months. Learn of illnesses that plagued the camps and ways civilians passed time while loved ones were away at war.

Russian Speaking Children’s New Year Celebration 11 a.m. All are invited to the annual celebration of Russian holiday traditions. Dana Auditorium, Queens University, 1900 Selwyn Avenue. Tickets are $10 at the door.
