Title: The Way to School

Author: Rosemary McCarney with Plan International

Ages: Kindergarten - Grade 3

Whether your child’s school is around the corner or across town, most parents feel a sense of comfort when we send our young ones off in the morning. In The Way to School by Rosemary McCarney, the author shares her story through vivid photographs of many children’s journeys to the classroom.

From Japan to the Philippines, Indonesia to Myanmar, getting to school following earthquakes, floods, and tsunamis is a challenge for children in countries that have been affected by these natural disasters.

While the United States is no stranger to Mother Nature’s fury, The Way to School sheds light on the obstacle course paths some students tackle when they leave home.

What matters most, of course, is ensuring children everywhere have the chance to learn. The one thing the students in this book all have in common is that they’re happy to be at school, once they arrive.

Dorothy H. Price is a wife and mother of two. Her first picture book will be released on February 8, 2016. Find her on Twitter @dorothyhp.
