Just because your family is not traveling for spring break this year doesn’t mean your child can’t go amazing places. Children’s Theatre of Charlotte will offer “Mini-Camps” to keeps kids engaged, entertained, and having fun the entire vacation.

What are “Mini-Camps”?

Mini-Camps are one of Children Theatre of Charlotte’s newest education initiatives, but they’re also one of the most popular. These “Mini-Camps” are offered as a day-long “staycation” camp option for working parents in the Charlotte area and are typically held on dates when Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are not in session.

The camps can be purchased as individual day camps, bundled as multiple camps or even as a full week. Think of it as one of our wildly popular summer camps crammed into one full day of theatre, art, music and interactive fun!

Mini-Camps are offered for kindergarten through second grade and third through sixth grade from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day.

Do my children need to have theatre/acting experience?

Absolutely not! Much like our summer camps, the concentration is on infusing a particular theme with creative dramatics, games, puzzles, storytelling and crafts. These are perfect for kids who love to perform as well as kids who just want to have fun with new activities and enjoy making new friends.

What can my kids expect?

All of our Mini-Camps are thematic and based on popular children’s books and stories. Working alongside our professional staff of teaching artists and class assistants, students will move through warm-ups, two drama lessons, a large group activity, lunch in our outside courtyard, arts and crafts, a music lesson and conclude the day with a reflection exercise. Children are immersed in theatre and storytelling throughout the day and will often leave ImaginOn with one or two cool take-home crafts!

Are Mini-Camps offered at multiple locations like your SOTT, Creative Drama and Summer Camp programs?

Unfortunately, our Mini-Camps currently take place only at our Uptown location at ImaginOn.

Where can I register for Mini-Camps and find more information?

You can register for a single day, a bundle of days or the whole week of spring break Mini-Camps here.
