A program new to Charlotte called Moms In Training (MIT) combines exercise, parenthood and philanthropy. Kicking off on April 2, 2016, groups of women will meet weekly -- some with little ones in strollers -- to train for a 5K walk/run, build a support network and raise money for cancer research through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
In its inaugural year in the Queen City, coached sessions will be held at 10 workout locations throughout Charlotte. The goal is to register 250 moms and raise $250,000.
"So much of the research that has been funded by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has now gone on to treat patients with all types of cancers. Moms In Training provides moms with a sense of community, all while being able to get in the shape in the process" says Moms In Training founder, Helena Scott.
If you would like to get in shape, meet moms and fight cancer, 50% off the registration fee will be extended through April 3, 2016. Moms can register online (teamintraining.org) or at the kickoff celebration on April 2, 2016 at Children’s Theater of Charlotte. The event schedule is as follows:
