Has the spring cleaning bug invaded your house? Before you drive to donate those bags of old clothes, consider turning your donations into dollars for your child’s school with Schoola.
This unique site takes users’ donations of women’s, children’s and teen clothing and resells them on their site. The donor’s school receives 40% of the sales proceeds from each item sold. 22,000 schools, including many in Mecklenburg County are already taking part. To see a list of schools in the Charlotte area click here. Schoola resells the clothing on their site (a great spot to shop as well!), so they prefer name brand clothing like Boden, J.Crew and Tea Collection - those have raised the most money due to their high resale value.
Ready to get started?
Just request a free postage-paid donation bag (each bag holds approximately 15-20 pieces of clothing) and fill it with items then leave it for the postman. Schoola will sort it, determine the resale prices of qualifying items, take a picture of each one, and get it up for sale on Schoola.com. The clothes are sold and the proceeds go directly to fund important programs at the schools from which the clothes were donated, with checks being issued twice a year in July and January.
