Cubes and Cakes Combine at Discovery Place Contest

Some things just go together - cheese and crackers...peanut butter and jelly...The Rubik’s Cube and cake.

Okay, maybe cake isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you think of that colorful little cube, but Discovery Place is setting out to change that with the first-ever Rubik’s Cube Cake-Off Saturday, July 23. Local bakeries and pastry chefs of all ages will showcase their cubed creations at Discovery Place, competing for the Grand Prize.

Interested in baking your own cube-inspired creation? The contest is open to all ages and abilities and is FREE to enter but advance registration is required. Entrants must register by Monday, July 18, 2016. The cakes or cupcakes must incorporate the theme of Beyond Rubik’s Cube, as well as some or all of the six colors of the Rubik’s Cube: red, yellow, green, blue, white and orange. Keep in mind that cakes will be judged on appearance and creativity ONLY so they can be created from any material and do not have to be edible. Three Grand Prize winners (one business, one individual, one youth) will be chosen by a judging panel but visitors to Discovery Place will decide the People’s Choice Award
