5 things to know before watching Panther Training Camp this week

Got any little Panthers fans in your house? Impress and entertain them with a trip to Gibbs Stadium at Wofford College in Spartanburg, where Carolina Panthers training camp practices are free and open to the public. Here are

1. Panther Pals

Kids ages 6-13 can join Panther Pals, an opportunity to watch part of practice from field level and then spend time with a player afterward. Make sure you register to be a Panther Pal at the Academy Kids Field located outside the entrance to the practice fields. Five names will be randomly chosen 45 minutes before the end of practice and the children selected will receive a Panther Pal T-shirt and will be escorted to a special area to watch the conclusion of practice.

2. Lowes Kickoff Party

The family-friendly Lowes Kickoff Party will also be held Thursday, July 28, from 4 - 6:30. Festivities include on-field performances by the TopCats, Sir Purr, PurrCussion and Black & Blue Crew, Mayor's Ball Run delivery, face painting, food, interactive games, sponsor displays and more. Admission is free.

3. A Bite to Eat

For a quick bite to eat, try nearby Wades Restaurant (http://www.eatatwades.com/) for “Southern Cooked Meats and Vegetables” or Hub Diggity (http://www.hubdiggity.com/home.html) for a variety of hot dogs, chicken, salads and more.

5. Directions

From Charlotte via I-85 South: Take I-85 South to exit 72 (I-585). At the end of the exit ramp, turn left toward Spartanburg. Cross over Business I-85. I-585 becomes Pine Street into Spartanburg. After crossing over Business I-85, turn right onto Pearl Street and then turn left onto Edgewood Avenue. Follow the signs and/or parking attendants.
