WOW! Nature Outing to Focus on Families and Trees

“Get in Touch with Trees” is this month’s theme at WOW, the monthly free nature outing hosted by Davidson Lands Conservancy and Woodland Discovery. The nature discovery program for children with their families runs Saturday, August 13, 10am to 11am.

Irvin Brawley, recently retired as Director of Grounds at Davidson College after 40 years, will guide an exploration of local trees up close at the college’s famous arboretum. Lots of kids’ activities will be provided, including a scavenger hunt, rubbings, and more.

This outing is for children and their families. The minimum age is 3 years old. Wear sturdy shoes. Remember to bring water. No dogs please. Strollers are okay.

Pre-registration is required. To register, send an email to with names of all the participants, ages of the children, any allergies and a phone number. At the site, we’ll ask you to sign a waiver form.

Location and other details will be sent to those who pre-register.
