Lice. A dreaded four letter word that often elicits a visceral reaction in many people, especially moms with children between the ages of three to twelve years old. Statistically speaking, lice will strike one out of three children at least once.
Traditionally, when lice strikes it is unexpected and most parents are unprepared. I know I was, and fell into a full-blown panic. I speak to moms every week calling to seek lice advice when they suddenly and unexpectedly discover generations of unwanted guests residing in their children's hair. It can be an unforgettable moment, but not one that we lice fighting moms want to remember.
Lice infestation is actually a year round problem, not only a back to school one come September. There are simple steps that can be taken now to make the treatment process much less daunting.
Recently, it has been well-documented that many of the traditional readily available lice treatment options no longer work well, due to pesticide resistance. Therefore, natural enzyme based lice products are currently far more effective and safer for treating a lice infestation.

Non-toxic enzyme based lice products work well and more effectively than traditional chemical laden products for two reasons:
1 - Lice cannot become immune to natural plant-based enzymes, no matter how often the product is used. However, there is much evidence that head lice have become immune, or are increasingly exhibiting pesticide resistance to over- the-counter lice treatments that contain pyrethrum based formulas. Just as viruses mutate, lice adapt and become stronger over time and many products on the market today that worked well decades ago no longer do. This has added to the difficulties of effective lice treatment, and to the frustration of parents who are concerned that their child still has an active lice infestation after using lice treatment shampoos over and over again.
2 - A natural plant-based enzyme lice shampoo is completely non-toxic and is safe for daily use. Since everything we apply to our bodies has the ability to absorb into our bloodstreams, it is important to use a safe, non- toxic and pesticide-free lice shampoo, and to have the option to use it as needed, every day, until the lice are completely gone. With the OTC and prescription pesticide based lice treatment products the instructions warn to wait to use it again for several days.
Treating lice effectively requires daily persistence and is an ongoing process until the infestation is gone. The life cycle of the louse needs to be interrupted. Head lice is not always eliminated with one treatment, and every lice case is different as every head of hair is different. The key to conquering lice is a great enzyme based lice shampoo, a sturdy metal nit comb with teeth very close together, and patience.
