Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have made an arrest in a flashing case Sunday at an apartment complex in southeast Charlotte.
There have been several reports in recent days that a man had exposed himself to children in both northeast and southeast Charlotte.
But Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say Wednesday's arrest of Shelton Smith, 21, of Charlotte, was in connection with a weekend incident at the Creekwood Quorum apartments, off East Independence Boulevard. Police accuse Smith of exposing himself to three children, ages 6, 7 and 9.
There were additional complaints Tuesday that a man had flashed children on Linda Lake Drive and on Kilborne Drive -- several miles northwest of the Creekwood Quorum apartments.
Several parents had confronted the Creekwood Quorum suspect Sunday, and one parent took a photo of the man on a camera phone. Police said they used the photo during their investigation.
Smith has a lengthy record of arrests on a wide variety of charges, including possession of marijuana and possession of a stolen firearm.
