FRIDAY

Celebrate America!: The Symphony’s most popular concert of the year. Albert-George Schram leads the orchestra in patriotic favorites. The concert culminates in an impressive array of fireworks. 8 p.m. at Village Park in Kannapolis.

The Jungle Book: Join us on Mowgli's crazy adventures with Baloo, Bagheera, King Louie and the monkeys, and the ferocious Shere Khan. Tap your toes in this jazzy adaptation of the Disney classic, "The Jungle Book." For further information or ticket sales call 704-793-4744 x219 or visit the website. Performances at Concord First Assembly are July 2-3, 7 p.m.

Live music at Stonecrest: Enjoy live music from various artists at the outdoor fountain.

SATURDAY

Fourth of July at the Whitewater Center: This year the annual 4th of July Festival is a two-day event presented by Coca-Cola ZERO. The entire weekend will be a celebration with fireworks both Saturday and Sunday nights and bands on the Coca-Cola ZERO Stage all day and night. Play all day with the AllSport Pass and then join us on the island for music by Acoustic Syndicate, Eric Lindel, Simplified and other great bands before finishing off the night with Class V Fireworks launching over the river from Hawk Island.

Snakes: Join Reedy Creek for an exciting snake presentation with live snakes and snake feedings! 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. All ages. Free. Must call 704-598-8857 to register in advance.

WBTV Skyshow at the Knights: Watch the Charlotte Knights play the Durham Bulls at 7:15 p.m. at Knights Stadium. Fireworks follow the game. $5 tickets.

Red, White & Boom!: Spend your Fourth of July with friends and family at Memorial Stadium. Family-friendly activities will take place with fireworks blasting off at 9:30 p.m. Parking: $5 at Memorial Stadium.

Independence Day Celebration at Carowinds: A salute to our heroes during the National Anthem, followed by special country music performances, swimsuit contest, live DJ music, plus a day at the park. Fireworks, which will salute all areas of our miliary, begin when park closes. 10 a.m.- 10 p.m. All-you-can-eat Patriotic Meal plus admission. $39.99 for adults, $29.99 for under 48' tall

Birkdale Village Fourth of July Celebration: 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., Birkdale Village and the town of Huntersville's seventh annual celebration, including bike decorating, face painting, a clown bounce, children’s art, a parade and more.

Independence Day Celebration at Charlotte Museum of History: Family-friendly event to celebrate the birth of our country with colonial games, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the Charlotte Museum of History. Bring a picnic lunch.

4th of July Fireworks at Tweetsie: Enjoy spectacular firework show in the high country. Spend the day at Tweetsie and catch the show when the park closes at 9 p.m. Adults $30, Children 3-12 $22

Wild and Free: Come explore the wild and free on Independence Day! This hike will focus on all that is wild and wonderful at Reedy Creek Nature Preserve. Participants must be able to hike at least 2 miles over uneven terrain. Snack is included in the fee. 2-4:30 p.m. $3. Must call 704-598-8857 to register in advance.
