ONGOING FALL AND HALLOWEEN EVENTS

N.C. State Fair: Fair starts at 3 p.m. Oct. 14 and runs through Oct. 24, 8 a.m. to midnight. Concerts, kiddy corners, over 50 rides, fireworks, farm animals and more. $8 for adults, $3 for children. $10 for a sheet of 18 ride tickets. Raleigh.

Ghost Train: Hop aboard the Ghost Train at Tweetsie for a scary journey into the night. Dance with the Ghouls and Ghosts at the lively Halloween party on Tweetsie's Main Street. $27, under age 2 free. Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 30.

Carolina Renaissance Festival: Held each Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.- 5:30 p.m., through Nov. 21. Advance discount tickets at Harris Teeter: $18 for adults, $7 for kids ages 5-12. Huntersville. Halloween weekend, the RenFest gets spooky. First, all kids 12 and under will be free that weekend. There will be costume contests, trick or treating and zombie jousting.

Carowind's gentle Halloween party for little ones, with trick-or-treating, pumpkins and shows. Noon-5 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 31.

Boo at the Zoo: Oct. 15-16 and 22-30, take an eerie tour of Riverbanks Zoo, 6-9 p.m.

Aw Shucks Farms: Pumpkin picking, hayrides, 6-acre corn maze, animal barn. $8, but web discounts available. 1-6 p.m. Open through Nov. 21. Monroe.

Rural Hill Amazing Maize Maze: 7-acre labyrinth. Through Nov. 7. Huntersville.

Trunk & Treat: First Baptist Church of Fort Mill, SC is having a “Trunks & Treats” event on Oct. 31, 5-7 p.m. Free and open to the public.

Regal Corn Maze: Open Friday-Sunday in October. Statesville.

Ghost Walk of Davidson: Meet at 7 p.m. in front of the Soda Shop in downtown Davidson. Hear about the town ghosts and town history. Nightly and ongoing.

Red Wolf Farm: Pumpkin patch, hayrides, kiddie corn maze, hiking trails, farm animals, pedal tractors. Maiden. Through Nov. 21.

Riverbend Farm: Tractors, animals, gemstone panning. Midland.

Country Time Farms: Haunted hayrides, farm animals, corn cannon, corn maze. Through Nov. 1. Indian Trail.

Hunter Farm: Tractor rides, farm animals, pumpkin picking. Weddington.

3-D Ghost Walk: Scott Toyota's on Independence is having a 3-D Ghost Walk to benefit local schools. Thur.-Sat in Oct. $5.

Scarrigan Farms: The 130-acre farm is transformed into a haunted trail. 12 and older. 6:30-10 p.m. Friday-Sunday through Oct. 31. $20 per person. Mooresville.
