I don’t know about you, but now that summer’s here, it seems I’m constantly packing food for my fam on the go. Whether it’s just drinks and snacks or a picnic for the pool, we’ve got goodies that need to be kept cold. And while I’m a huge fan of the monogrammable preppy look, the eco-friendly lunchbox/coolers that I found through one of my favorite Web sites, organicadeluxe.com, have too good of a story to pass up.
The bags, which come in three different sizes, are made by a women’s cooperative in the Philippines utilizing ‘Pre-Consumer’ waste packaging gathered from juice container manufacturers in and around Manila. Check out one of these photos – this bag is sure to be an eye-catcher for you! The waste material would normally be deposited into landfills – but instead it’s made into these cute bags.

Two of the styles serve as coolers, the mini or regular lunchbox. The third option is the size of a small purse. Each can be bought in your choice of trim – pink, orange, green, red or blue and the bags are priced at $16 for the mini $18 for the purse and $20 for the larger cooler.
It didn’t take but a few hours for my eldest to notice our new bag on our pantry shelf. All three of my girls were intrigued with the color – and what the perfect segue to telling them about recycling/reusing and simply being good to our environment. All that and a cool bag to go with it!
