Caps for a Cause

They used to be just a simple toss-away or an annoying piece of metal that you hated to step on. But all that changed recently when bottle caps entered the fashion world. Now girls of all ages sport them around their necks with designs ranging from cupcakes, BFF and favorite sports, just to name a few. Without a doubt, these adorable pieces are the new rage.

Local lady Elsie Redmond, who was already dabbling in fundraising ideas for charities, was encouraged by her 3-year-old daughter who inspired her to add a twist to the caps. By creating their own custom designs on them, the girls were able to offer them to local organizations who in turn sell them and keep part of the profit for their charity of choice.

Redmond sent me a few samples of the Hot Tops!, which my little ones can’t get enough of. Simple, yet stylish, they’re the perfect accent for any of the ladies, young or old. Better yet, since they are completely customizable, the can be just the thing to raise money for organizations of all types. The Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte, McKinney Academy and Pine Lake Prep are just some of the few to try this unique way of making cents with style.
