My name is Megan Shavers. I am 34 years old and originally from Illinois. I relocated to Charlotte about 6 years ago for family and work purposes.
I have a 15 year old teenager daughter. She is my world and don't know where I would be without her.

For the longest time it was just the two of us and then I met the love of my life the summer of 2008. We moved in together and then married about a year later in July of 2009.
Due to my age, we started talking about a family early. We decided to start trying and I finally conceived in April so we are expecting a new baby in January of 2011. My husband is ecstatic. The weird thing is, it has been 15 years.
I feel like I am starting all over again and I have forgotten everything. So much has changed since 1995. I am learning so many new things like the fact that you need prenatal vitamins with DHA in them and that they can do an ultrasound and detect a heartbeat as early as 6 weeks.
To be honest, I am probably going to appreciate this pregnancy more and pay a lot more attention to what's going on. When I got pregnant with my daughter I was 18 years old and of course thought I knew everything and worried about nothing.
I was excited of course but the excitement is different now that I am more knowledgeable, more stable, and a real grown up (instead of just pretending to be one). My daughter is excited about the baby and we have agreed to let her help name the baby and be involved as much as possible because we don't want her to feel like the odd man out.
My husband loves my daughter like she is his own and she has grown to love and respect him as her father as well.
I look forward to sharing my journey with everyone, especially to get advice and information. Although this is the second time for me, it feels like the first time all over again.
