North Carolina Dance Theatre is holding auditions for NCDT REACH!, which gives free dance lessons and performance opportunities to boys and girls ages 7-10 who can't afford professional lessons.
In its first year, NCDT REACH! worked with more than 90 students. The program is supported by a $78,000 donation from the Women’s Impact Fund.
Selection for NCDT REACH! is determined based on natural abilities, the potential to be trained in dance, family commitment to the program and financial need. Parental involvement is emphasized in all aspects of the program, including orientations for parents and students prior to the program’s start. No prior dance experience is required.
NC Dance Theatre Director of Education and Outreach April Berry and program teaching artists will make up the audition panel. Up to 30 students may be selected at each of the four park and rec locations.
