Upgrades to IMAX begin Wednesday

From Discovery Place:

Discovery Place’s IMAX Dome Theatre will temporarily close for upgrades June 1—10. Museum guests are encouraged to visit the Discovery 3D Theatre, a digital movie theatre offering short-form 3D films appropriate for visitors of all ages, in the meantime.

Current 3D films include Bugs! (opens June 1) and S.O.S. Planet, which investigates deforestation, ocean habitat destruction and global warming alongside digitally animated characters. Discovery 3D Theatre films are about 20 minutes long and are included with museum admission.

New pricing will take effect when the IMAX Dome Theatre re-opens June 10. Guests may add an IMAX movie to their Discovery Place admission for just $5. Regular IMAX admission tickets will be $10 for ages 14-59, $9 for ages 2-13 and 60+ and free for children younger than 2. Group and member discounts also are available. Visit discoveryplace.org or call (704) 372-6261 for showtimes.

· Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

· Saturday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
