Community in action: Fighting human trafficking

From the Junior League of Charlotte

The Junior League of Charlotte has invited Anne M. Tompkins, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, to speak to its membership today about the prevalence of human trafficking in the United States and about how her office combating that crime in this area.

North Carolina ranks eighth in the country for human trafficking, primarily because of the two major interstates (I-85 and I-95) that run through the state.

The Junior League encourages its membership to ask their political leaders to pass a bill to create a North Carolina Human Trafficking Commission.
