Black Forest Books & Toys, a locally owned specialty children’s book and toy store, will celebrate its move to a bigger location with a grand opening from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday. Black Forest, known as one of the nation’s oldest children’s book stores, has moved to the big purple house at 1942 E. 7th St. The store had been at 115 Cherokee Road for more than 30 years.

11:00 Preschool art activity with Jane Walkup
11:30 "The Kangaroo’s Tale," a marionette show by Mark West
12:00 Story time – Charlotte Mecklenburg Library storyteller
12:30 Reading and book signing with Melinda Long, author of "How I Became a Pirate"
1:00 Story time – Charlotte Mecklenburg Library storyteller
1:30 Reading and book signing with A.J. Hartley, local author of "Darwin Arkwright & the Peregrine Pact"
Ongoing activities will include face painting, crafts, activities and visits by favorite book character Spot the Dog. Door prizes include books, toys and tickets to Children’s Theatre’s "Seussical."
A portion of all sales during the grand opening will be donated to ImaginOn to support children’s library and Children’s Theatre programming.
