The 2012 Field to Fork Pizza Garden Program application is ready for submissions.
The Field to Fork Program is a 6-month partnership (January-June) with CMS elementary classes to address childhood obesity through hands-on learning of gardening, nutrition and healthy eating. Partners of the project include CMS, Mecklenburg County Fruit & Vegetable Coalition, Charlotte Green, and Fuel Pizza Café.
This year, the program partners will select 14 schools to participate. Schools will participate in learning, teamwork, gardening -- and eating pizza at Fuel Pizza Café.
Applications can be submitted through 5 p.m. Dec. 7. A completed application includes the eight-question survey application, emailed pictures of current garden or potential garden space, and a letter of support from the school's principal. Selected schools will be notified the first week of January 2012.
