Fun for flower girls

A new website and book series called Flower Girl World has launched to offer flower girl information and fun. Girls can enjoy crafts and activities, while parents and brides will find tips to create memorable experiences for their flower girl.

Flower Girl World offers picture books like "Camellia the Fabulous Flower Girl" and a chapter book series that launches with "Rosie and the Wedding Day Rescue," both written by Lynelle Woolley and illustrated by Karen Wolcott. The books feature themes of friendship, leadership and acceptance, and share the same characters.

Both books are included in the Celebration Kit, which also contains:

-- Official Flower Girl World certificate

-- Practice petals

-- Mini felt basket

-- Glitter flower stickers

-- Wedding day activity book and crayons

-- Memory scrapbook

-- Six collectible character bookmarks to share with friends

According to the American Wedding Study, of the 2.3 million weddings in the US in 2010, 62 percent included at least one flower girl.

Author Lynelle Woolley is a writer and entertainment creative executive who has held senior positions at MGM and New Line Cinema. She is a former flower girl (age 7) and a three-time flower girl mom. She lives in Southern California.

Karen Wolcott has illustrated several children's books for publishers including Scholastic, Running Press and Penguin. She lives in Omaha, Neb.
