CheapOair is a leading online travel website offering a large selection of discounted flight deals. I had the opportunity recently to speak with Cheap0air’s Chief Commercial Officer Chris Cuddy. His industry insight will help your family save money on your airline bookings.

Q. What destinations has CheapOair seen an increase in bookings to?

A. We have seen an increase to warmer destinations and traditional summer destinations, but New York City has been more popular over Orlando. We have seen a 41% booking increase to New York City. Cancun, Puerto Rico, London, Paris and Istanbul are some of our top travel destinations.

Q. How far in advance should reservations be made?

A. As a rule of thumb, it’s best to book 30 to 45 days to get a good edge on rate. Three or four months in advance is best for pricing and availability, especially to international destinations.

Q. I have heard Tuesday is the best day to book a flight. Is this true?

A. Airlines change their inventory on Tuesdays. Go online and begin checking from Monday night to Wednesday morning. We have specials via our call center. Pick up the phone and give us a call. You shouldn’t always wait till Tuesday to book.

Q. What days should travelers fly within the USA and to The Caribbean, Mexico, Europe, Latin America, and Asia – to get the cheapest fares?

A. Staying over a Saturday or Sunday night will typically give you the cheapest fares. Use our alternate dates feature and play around with the dates. You could offset the airline fares for the cost of another hotel night at your destination.

Q. What are the benefits of booking my flights with CheapOair?

A. Per the airlines policies. Contact us, not the airline. We can handle cancellations or rebook a flight. Our service agents will contact the airline directly and talk to the right person much quicker. Travelers have to remember no shows don’t count as a cancellation.

Q. If I experience a crisis while on vacation, do you have 24/7 live customer service support?

A. We should be the first person you call. We strongly encourage you to contact us immediately to help rebook your flights.

Q. Any other tip you would like to share?

A. Families should take advantage of the TSA Pre√ program, since families are considered a low travel risk. At most larger airports, families can go through security screening faster. Kids under 12 don’t have to take off their shoes and parents don’t have to pull out the laptops. Use the TSA Pre√ designated line, families can reduce their wait time and experience less hassles when going through security lines. Parents can sign-up online.
