It's a great time to need a new computer!
Just in time for getting your kids ready to go back to school or your teenagers ready to go away to college, Wal-Mart is getting very aggressive in the pricing of computers!
Starting Sunday, you can buy a Hewlett-Packard laptop with Windows Vista & 3 gigabytes of memory & a 160-gigabyte hard drive, for only $298 . An Acer laptop with Windows Vista & an eight-hour battery, 3 gigabytes of memory & a 320-gigabyte hard drive is priced at only $548 .

Wal-Mart is trying very hard to become a more prominent personal computer (PC) retailer by improving and updating their retail displays of computers and electronic equipment, and especially by doing what Wal-Mart does best, beat the competition by lowering prices .
Many people in the computer industry think this may signal the beginning of a price war between Wal-Mart and Best Buy, leading to lower computer prices, at least in the short term. Take advantage of it!
My suggestion is, do all your research online, get all the specifics of what you are looking for in a computer, and then head over to Wal-Mart and Best Buy to compare prices and features on computers.
Many people are unaware that major chains like Wal-Mart and Best Buy will match prices on identical products. If you bring in documentation that shows the exact item and pricing from another major competitor , such as Amazon.com, they will match the price.
You simply print it out and take it with you to the store.
I recently found a piece of software that I could buy online that was quite a bit less expensive than the pricing at my local Best Buy store. I printed out the specifics of the item, showing the picture of the software and the pricing from the Amazon.com website and took it with me to the Best Buy store.
They happily matched the price, and I was able to have it that day, as well as buy it locally.
This is true for all items, not just software. If you can bring them proof that the exact same item is being sold for less money at one of their main competitors, they will match the price!
At these prices, maybe it's time to upgrade your own computer!
