What is the Deal with CVS?

The reward program is called Extra Care Bucks (ECB) When you buy a product or number of products as indicated in the weekly insert or online you receive ECB that will print on the bottom of your receipt. Also quarterly you receive a reward of ECBs dependent on the amount you have spent that quarter. This can range from $1 – to $10 depending on how much you shop. To get involved with this program, simply get a CVS card.  You will also want to go on line to register to receive their emails. CVS website email sign up The emails contain coupons and sometimes a $4 off purchase coupons.  There is also a Coupon Center machine in each CVS. Simply wave your card in the designated areas and you will receive additional CVS coupons.

REMEMBER – At CVS you can use a Store coupon (one from the CVS website with CVS printed at the top) along with a manufacturers’ coupon. This is stacking or Piggybacking. Be sure to also participate in their reusable bag program.  Initially you will spent a dollar for a tag you put on the strap of one if your reusable bags. Then each visit get it scanned. On the 4th visit you will receive a $1 ECB. When you have a ECB deal and you have to spend a certain amount before you get the ECB, the amount you must spend is BEFORE your coupons. Example –

$3 ECB WYB $10 Febreeze products:

You Buy (4) Febreeze Air Effects 9.7oz or Set & Refresh air freshener 1ct. $2.99 Total $11.96

Use  $1 off Febreze Air Effects PG 9/26

Use  $1/2 Febreze Air Effects, PG 8/29

Use  $.50/1 Febreze Air Effects, PG 8/29

You spend $9.46 plus you get $3 ECB so you really spent $1.61 ea

So how do you make all this work for you??

When looking at their weekly insert identify items that give you the chance to earn ECBs. Then look for a coupon for that item or items, either in your organizer, the web or even on the CVS website. On your initially visit you may come out of pocket more than in the subsequent visits. After receiving and collecting your ECBs  use this and only this on subsequent visits always buying items that give you ECBs.

What is the deal with  Rite Aid: For several years Rite Aid has used their Single Check Rebate program (SCR) With this program you must register on Rite Aid.com then enter your receipts. Then at the end of the month go back to the website and select that you want to get your check. Recently when introducing their new Wellness + Rewards card, the started giving + Up Reward dollars when you bought specific items. The + Up Rewards are printed on the end of your receipt, similar to the Extra Care Bucks (ECB) from CVS. They also offer coupons on their website, including the opportunity to watch videos on their website to earn great coupons for items in their store. There are always opportunities to get coupons that offer $5 off a $25 purchase. This is often on their website too! Sometimes they also offer promotions where when you buy a certain line of products (ex: Proctor & Gamble, Dental, Weight Loss) they offer opportunities to get Gift Cards.

So how do you make all this work for you??

When looking at their weekly insert identify items that give either + UP reward dollars or are eligible for the SCR program or even both. Then look for a coupon for that item, either in your organizer, the web or even on the Rite Aid website. On your initially visit you may come out of pocket more than in the subsequent visits. After receiving and collecting your +UP Reward dollars and SRC money, use this and only this on subsequent visits always buying items that give either + UP reward dollars or are eligible for the SCR program or even both.

REMEMBER – At Rite Aid you can use a Store coupon (one from the Rite Aid website with Rite Aid Coupon printed at the top) along with a manufacturers’ coupon. This is stacking or Piggybacking.

What is the deal with Walgreens?

Walgreens has a Register Rewards Program. Unique to most of their competitors they do not require a special loyalty card, meaning anyone can get these deals without giving out any information. They also have ads (coupons) in their insert and in their monthly Savings Booklet ..Register Rewards are awarded at the end of the transaction and must be used within the expiration period. They will NOT accept expired Register Rewards; take it from a woman that knows. A Register Reward is a manufacturer-issued coupon that is good for a specific dollar amount off your next purchase.

So how do you make all this work for you??

When looking at their weekly insert identify items that give a Register Reward  in- ad coupon or both. Try to buy items that will give you register rewards while using coupons for those items. If you get lucky and find a Walgreens ad coupon and can match it with a manufactures coupons you can stack it and save lots.
