Next in my drugstore spotlight series: Walgreens. While one of the more complicated drugstores to navigate for deals, Walgreens can offer significant savings.
• Get a Register Rewards card, Walgreens’ shopper loyalty program. Members can earn points by purchasing select items featured in the weekly ad, downloading the Walgreens app and tracking physical activity and weight and filling prescriptions.
The accumulated points can be redeemed for a cash value. For example, when shoppers earn 5,000 points, they can redeem those for a cash value of $5.
• When purchasing select items, shoppers can earn Register Rewards coupons that print at the register. Register Rewards coupons can only be used at Walgreens, but they can be paired with manufacturers’ coupons on the same item. Register Rewards typically expire two weeks after they are issued.
• Sign up for the Walgreens e-newsletter.
for paperless coupons that can be electronically added to your Walgreen’s card.
• Walgreens’ coupon policy states shoppers can only use as many coupons as they have items. In other words, if you plan to use 12 coupons, you must have at least 12 items. If using two coupons on the same good (a manufacturer’s coupon and a Walgreens’ coupon) shoppers must purchase an additional item.
