For coupon fans, e-coupons are a wonderful convenience: No clipping! No sorting of coupons at the register! Here’s what you need to know about e-coupons at two major grocers:
Harris Teeter recently revived its e-Vic program. Shoppers sign up for the program on the Harris Teeter website and select the coupons they wish to use. The new program offers about 20 electronic coupons (compared with 100 in its former life). These are manufacturers’ coupons that can be stacked with other coupons. The e-Vic coupons do not double.
A shopper who has a paper coupon for the same product can use it with the electronic version and the coupon value will increase.
Publix offers “skip the clip,” allowing shoppers to register for electronic coupons using a phone number. More than 200 e-coupons are available. These are manufacturers’ coupons that cannot be stacked with other coupons. They do not double.
